HSSC has two independent welfare officers Anna Salisbury and Teresa Coscoran.
They can be contacted at Hadleighscwelfare@gmail.com equally if you see them at the pool side at training then do feel free to come and have a chat.
At our club, creating a positive and secure environment is just as important as helping you reach your swimming goals. Safeguarding means we are committed to making sure every member feels safe, supported, and respected. If something – or someone – is affecting your wellbeing, we take it seriously and will act on it.
You might be wondering what we mean by keeping you safe. Here are some examples of the types of behaviour we actively prevent:
· Bullying of any kind
· Unfair or unequal treatment
· Deliberate harm from others
· Being ignored or dismissed
As part of our commitment, we follow the Swim England safeguarding framework, Wavepower. This document outlines how we protect our members and what procedures we follow. You can ask to see a printed version from the club’s welfare officers.
We understand that experiencing or witnessing bad behaviour can be upsetting. You should never feel like you have to accept it. If something doesn’t feel right, talk to someone. This could be a parent or carer, your coach, a welfare officer, or another trusted adult at the club. Every concern will be taken seriously and handled appropriately.
Here’s how you can raise a concern:
– Speak to our welfare officers – they’re here to help.
– Call Swimline on 0808 100 4001 – this is a confidential service supported by Swim England. Leave your contact details and someone will get back to you within 48 hours. If it’s urgent, stay on the line to speak directly with NSPCC or ChildLine.
– Visit the safeguarding section on the Swim England website where you can write directly to their safeguarding team for support.
